MATAGUMPAY ang pagdaraos ng 61st birthday celebration ng award-winning direktor na si Romm Burlat last Tuesday, April 30 sa Bolinao, Pangasinan.
Ito ang 12th year na ipinagdiriwang ni Direk Romm ang kanyang natal day sa piling ng mga kapos-palad. Nagsimula ito last 2012 at ever since ay naging panata na niya ito.
Nagpadala siya sa amin ng mensahe at nag-imbita na rin sa naturang selebrasyon.
MY BIRTHDAY VOW OF SIMPLICITY & CHARITY
I stopped spending lavish birthdays since 2012. I chose to live simply so others may simply live. In 2013, I celebrated my birthday with the mentally-challenged kids and adults of Hospicio de San Jose; 2014 with the abandoned children of Asilo de San Vicente de Paul; 2015 with the abused children and teens of the Pangarap Foundation; 2016 with the orphans of White Cross Center; 2017 with the pediatric cancer patients of Bahay Aruga & 2018 with the streetchildren of FB Harrison. In 2019, I had it with the elderlies with Alzheimer’s in San Lorenzo Ruiz Home for the Elderly. In 2020, I had my birthday celebrated with the frontliners.
In 2021, I did it with the Green Acres Home for the Elderly. In 2022, I celebrated my birthday with the abandoned children at A Home for the Little Angels. Last year, I spent it with PAWSsion Project for stray dogs and cats & Homeless Hearts in Baguio.
This year hopefully, I will spend it with the Home for the Aged in Mindoro. Lord, please give me excellent health all the time and blessings so I may be able to continuously share your gifts to the least of my brethren. Almighty Father, thank you for the gift of life and the gift of giving.
Inusisa namin kung ano ang kanyang birthday wish at pakiramdam kapag nakakatulong siya sa kapwa?
Aniya, “Ang wish ko, to do a mainstream movie and be recognized by the big 5: Star Awards, FAMAS, Urian, Luna and Gawad Pasado.”
Esplika pa ni Direk Romm, “Pakiramdam? Sobrang saya when I see people happy because of me.”
Dagdag pa niya, “It’s my annual vow. Panata ko na ito taon-taon mula 2012. Hindi na ako nagpa-party sa birthdays ko. Instead ginagamit ko ang pera sa pagtulong sa kapwa. I have learned to live simply so others may simply live.
“So, nagbigay ako ng mga electric fans dahil sa sobrang init ng panahon at nagbigay din ng cash para sa St. Joseph Home for the Elderly.”
Nakiisa sa taunang pagdiriwang ng birthday ni Direk Romm ang movie producer at nasa likod ng TTP Productions na si Ms. Tess Tolentino Pambuan, FAMAS president na si Ms. Francia Cheche Condrado, at ilang malalapit na kaibigan.
