40 (FORTY) YEARS! And counting!
Nang dumaan ang pandemya, marami’ng sing-along hosts ng una at pinaka-matagal na sing-along o comedy bar ang halos tumiklop na at magbaba ng telon.
Kaya maraming performers ang na-displace. Pero dahil pawang madidiskarte, naipagpatuloy pa rin ang kagustuhang mag-perform at lumaban sa buhay.
Nag-KUMU. Nag-BIGO. Lahat ng pwedeng patulan ay ginawa.
Kaya nang muling magbukas ang Music Box (Timog Avenue) nabuhayan ng loob ang mga host. Salamat kay Doc Percival de Leon at Jobert Sucaldito na nagpatuloy nito nang isara nang pumanaw ang may-ari na si Wowie de Dios.
Pero umikli ang pisi ng nagsalba nito. At tuluyan na sana itong bibitawan ni Doc.
Nabalitaan ito ng may-ari ng The Library Sing-Along Bar na si Mamu Andrew de Real, kinalampag nito ang kaibigan at business partner na si Jerick Gadeja para saluhin ang Music Box.
Para kay Mamu, ayaw nito’ng mawala ang legacy na sinimulan ng Music Box noong 1984 pa. Na itinuring namang sister bar ng The Library na nagbukas noong 1986.
Kaya nitong Enero 2024, nagbukas muli ang Music Box Powered by The Library. Kaya ang karamihang hosts na sumulpot ay mula sa The Library ni Mamu.
The comedy bar boasts of about 30 performers. May seasoned na at nahubog ng Bagong Sibol workshops ni Mamu a long time ago. Kaya muli rin itong binuhay para sa new talents na nagmula naman sa D’Calibre management ni Jerick.
This May 17, 2024, The Music Box powered by The Library will celebrate its Ruby Anniversary.
In store are special shows that will feature Inang Willie Jones on May 14, 2024. Siya ang tinaguriang Shirley Bassey of the Philippines. At kahit pa isang senior citizen na si Inang, her voice still awes the listeners. Watch her give her Greatest Performance on that night.
On May 15, 2024, ang sultry voice naman of Malu Bally on her One and Only night ang mapapanood. With surprise guests. To support the Foundation of chiropractor Doc Rob Walcher.
Kinabukasan, May 16, 2024 it’s Sesabeth’s Back Home show. Sa Thailand na kasi ito nananahan. Siya naman ang naging Reyna ng Hard Rock Café for a long time.
Sesabeth Canauay is a Filipina. Another product of Music Box.
Sa Metropolitan Theater na-expose si Sesabeth bilang isang classical singer. Hanggang sa rumampa na siya kasama ng banda sa iba’t ibang bansa in Asia, lalo na sa Hard Rock Café chain of bars and restaurants.
Hinasa rin nito ang sarili sa hosting lalo na sa mga special events.
Currently based in Bangkok ,Thailand , she is also a Vocal and Stage Performance Coach Trainor, teaching Voice, English & Arts, while performing as an Artist Singer in various hotels and clubs around Thailand .
Sesabeth sings and belts out different genres: R&B, Soul, Funk, Pop, Jazz, Classical/Standards, Disco, Alternative-Rock, Rock Heavy Metal. She can sing and dance like Madonna, J-Lo, Lady Gaga or do an act, with an outstanding impersonation of Ms. Tina Turner.
A powerful voice. Sold out performances.
And on the day of the anniversary, a different kind of Santacruzan will happen around Music Box’ vicinity. And it would be the night where one host from each set will represent and compete as to who will emerge as the best of the best!
More and more surprises await the customers of the Music Box. There’s news that comedienne Pokwang, who is herself a product of the establishment will come in as a business parner of the family.
Part of the changes that will happen soonest is the genius composer-songwriter Vehnee Saturno’s participation in some projects that will benefit more aspiring singers.
Add to that direk MacArthur Alejandre, Jerry Sineneng , as well as National Artist Ricky Lee to be part of the Music Box/Library family’s workshops and other projects.
